Maureen Shekleton, Illinois fosters Association Foundation President announced during opening ceremonies of the House of Delegates, the creation of the Anne Zimmerman, RN FAAN Endowment supply This fund was established to provide an enduring memorial to the contributions of this national nursing leader whose positive impact onward the practice and economics of nursing has forever changed the profession of nursing. by means of the close of convention, a total of $6545 was contributed to this endowment.

It has been said that Anne would caution fosters "that the opportunity of a lifetime must be taken in the lifetime of the opportunity".

Mr Zimmerman's compassion, integrity and her pioneering efforts in advocating for nurses' dominion government of their practice and work environment based in succession accountability to patients came into replete bloom as Executive Director of INA. by means of Anne's efforts as the state executive, Illinois became common of nine states to receive funding for pilot programs to implement the recommendations of the 1970 National Commission for the close attention of Nursing and Nursing Education (the Lysaught report).
