Paul Clayton, 55 Beaverton, Ore., died 21 December 2001 A native of Norfolk, England, he earned undergraduate and doctoral stages in metallurgy from Brunel University. For 12 years, he was a research scientist with British Rail before moving to Oregon in 1983 to take a position as associate professor of materials science and engineering at Oregon Graduate Institute (OGI).
